Language

  • Spanish is the main language
  • Peruvian, and Quechua (other languages)

Religion

  • 4/5 ot Peruvians are Roman Catholic.
  • In Ancient Peru the most important gods were Viracocha (lord, creator, and father of men) and Pachamama (Earth mother).
  • The Sun, Moon, Lightning, and Mountains are also worshipped.

Population

  • Quechua Indians make up almost 1/2 or the population.
  • Mestizos are a little less than 1/3
  • Europeans are about 1/8
  • Between 1960 and 2013 the population grew from 9.9 million to 30.3 million.

  • one of the world's 10 "megadiverse" countries, for its diversity in ecosystems, species, genetic resources and culture.
