Puno is on Lake Titicaca. Indigenous people lived in Peru for thousands of years before the Eurpoeans arrived. They brought Catholicism with them and now about 70% of South America is Catholic.

At Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca sits on border of Peru and Bolivia. Can fish, boat (not like we think of boating), relaxing. Beautiful lake.

Chan Chan (Sun-Sun)

Chimu kingdom -- pre-Incan, Pre-Colombian. Archeological haven. Largest adobe city in the world.

Manu National Park

Largest national park in Peru. Hard to get to. Greatest biodiversity in the world.

Pisac Market

Outside Cusco, open Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Crafts, clothing, etc. In the Sacred Valley.

Cordillera Blanca

Some of the highest peaks in the Andes. Can ski, hike, climb, etc.

Ollantaytambo

Another Inca archaeological site. Start of Inca Trail.

Spanish architecture.

Inca Trail

3-5 day hike, not so difficult, except for the change in elevation... about 12000 feet ascent. Have to acclimate in Cusco for aout 2 days before hiking. 45 km trail, ends at Machu Picchu. Starts from the Scared Valley. One of the world's most famous hiking trails.
