MAY 7TH, 1840 - NOVEMBER 6TH, 1893

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on May 7th, 1840 in Votkinsk, Russia. He passed away on November 6th, 1893 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He composed in the Romantic Era. Tchaikovsky mainly composed Russian music.

CHILDHOOD

  • Ilya Tchaikovsky and Alexandra Assier - parents.
  • Six children.
  • Age four, he made a recorded composition.

GROWING UP

  • 1850 joined Imperial School of Jurisprudence.
  • 1854 his mother died.
  • Rudolph Kündinger gives piano lessons.

TALENT

  • Kündinger didn’t encourage Peter to become a musician.
  • Told to go to the Ministry of Justice.

MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

  • 1859, signed up for the Ministry of Justice.
  • Became very interested with music.

LOVING MUSIC

  • Joined St. Petersburg Conservatory.
  • Resigned from the Ministry of Justice.
  • Spent around three years at the conservatory.

TEACHING

  • 1865, he graduated and moved to Moscow.
  • Became the Professor of Music Theory.
