WHAT INFLUENCED HIM TO BE A DIRECTOR?

He was influenced by the work of Antonin Artaud and his ideas for his theatre of cruelty.

WHERE IS HE NOW?

In 1970 peter brook founded the international centre for theatre research, a multinational company for actors, dancers, musicians, etc...
It has travelled widely in the middle east and Africa in the early 1970's. It is now based in paris. In 2008, he resigned and handed it over to Olivier Mantei and Olivier Poubelle.

HOW DID HE CHANGE THEATRE?

"I can take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whilst someone else is watching him and this is all that is needed for an act of theatre to be engaged."
Peter brook.

Some teachers at universities use this quote so the students get a better understanding of the theatres possibilities with all the material they create in there future.because if they understand what brook is saying here, then they understand what stripped down theatre can be in its most basic form. From there the possibilities are limitless.

In the words of peter brook, theatre doesn't even require a theatre in order for it to be meaningful and real.
