SAINT PETER THE APOSTLE.

Saint Peter was a fisherman from Galilee. One day, while he was fishing, Jesus approached Peter and his brother Andrew and asked them to become "Fishers of Men"

He spent three years spreading the Good News with Jesus until the Crucifixion

Peter was the chief/prince of the Apostles. He was their speaker and leader.

Originally Simon, Jesus gave Peter his new name, which means rock.
"Upon this rock I will build my Church" -Matthew 16:18

Jesus gave Peter the keys to the Church. He became the first Pope; the Leader of the Church on earth.

Peter was the first to speak after Pentecost.

Peter was arrested and imprisoned multiple times for preaching the Gospel

Peter went to Rome to preach, where he was arrested and eventually crucified. He, like most Apostles, was a martyr.

He is the patron saint of the elderly, fisherman, bakers, farmers, sailors, clockmakers, shoemakers, locksmiths, butchers, and those with fevers.

St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican was built over St. Peter's grave.
