  • 1527, ruled by Spanish monarchs Found by Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer for the Spanish rule Named after King Philip II Spain ruled the Philippines for 356 years Rebellion against the Spanish rule began in full force in the year of 1896 December 8, 1941, Japan invaded the Philippines.
