HOW DOES PHONEMES WORK IN HERE?

When a sound accomplish a differentiating function it is called a phoneme. They are represented with this

In Spanish there are 24 phonemes:

* 5 of them are vocal
* 19 of them are consonants

In English there are 44 phones

* 19 of them are consonants
* 12 of them are vocals
* 8 dipththongs

VOWEL PHONEMES

There are 2 types:

* place of articulation
*mode of articulation

CONSONANT PHONEMES

There are 3 types:

* the action of the palate veil (oral and nasal)
* the action of the vocal cords (sound and deaf)
* and the place of articulation ( bilabiales, labiodentales, dental, interdental, alveolar, palatal and velar).

PHONEMES CARACTERISTICS

• Sound model is represented by letters
• There is no correspondence between letters the number of phonemes and letters is very similar but not identical

In 1886, The International Phonetic Association created an International Phonetic Alphabet, in which they represented graphic symbols that allow describing the pronunciation of any human language.

Etymologically, the word phonology is of Greek origin
