PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Photosynthesis

  • a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy, normally from the Sun

Cellular Respiration

  • set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells

Fermentation

  •  metabolic process that converts sugar to acids, gases, and/or alcohol.

Chlorophyll

  • green pigment, present in all green plants and in cyanobacteria.

Stoma

  •  pores in the epidermis of the leaf or stem of a plant.

Transpiration

  •  process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves

Chemical Compounds

  •  molecular compounds held together by covalent bonds.

Carbohydrates

  • one of the main types of nutrients.

Lipids

  • group of naturally occurring molecules that include fats.

Proteins

  • Proteins are large biological molecules.

Nucleic Acid

  • DNA is just one type of nucleic acid.

Enzyme

  •  protein molecule that is a biological catalyst with three characteristics.

Chemical Energy

  •  energy that results during a chemical reaction is called chemical energy.

Reactant

  •  substance that takes part in and undergoes change during a reaction.

Product

  • product is something "manufactured" by an enzyme from its substrate.
