PHYSICAL VS. CHEMICAL CHANGE

BY: SIERRA POLLEY

YESTERDAY IN SCIENCE CLASS WE....

  • We mixed phenol red with calcium chloride.
  • When we mixed it, it turned hot.
  • It also changed color.
  • After this, we put baking soda in the mixture.
  • This made it cool down and it made it foamy.

CHEMICAL CHANGE CONTINUED...

  • The mixture was originally red.
  • But when we mixed the baking soda, it turned yellow
  • This is an example of chemical change.
  • Another example of chemical change is:
  • Mixing baking soda with vinegar

PHYSICAL CHANGE...

  • In physical change, no new substance is created.
  • It stays the same object, just changes form.
  • Some examples of physical change are...
  • Water boiling
  • Ice melting

MORE EXAMPLES OF PHYSICAL CHANGE...

  • Tearing paper towel
  • Shredding paper
  • Chopping wood
  • And crushing a can
