PRESENTATION OUTLINE

INFRARED

KEN PHAM AND DYLAN BABJACK

WHAT IS INFRARED

  • Invisible radiant energy
  • Lies between the visible and microwaves portions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
  • Waves are thermal.

HOW CAN WE SEE USING INFRARED

OBJECTS EMIT ENGERY/HEAT INFRARED RADIATION.

WAVELENGH

THE WAVELENGTH RANGE IS FROM ABOUT 1 MM-750 NM

COMPARISON

  • The wavelength is equal/compared to a hydrogen molecule.

HARMFUL?

  • It isn't harmful but for example you wouldn't want to place your hand on a hot stove.

APPLICATIONS FOR INFRARED

  • Doctors use infrared lamps to treat skin diseases.
  • Infrared is used for communication between devices.
  • A wireless mouse.
