MATH

  • Seminars: teachers deliver instruction to groups of students based off of pre-tests and individual needs
  • Workshop: students work on 'must do' and 'may do' work independently
  • Chapter assessments, district assessments and student projects completed throughout the year
  • Digital Platform: Dreambox

READING

  • Seminar: mini lesson focusing on a reading strategy
  • Workshop: students read 'just right books' or Achieve3000 articles independently, teachers confer 1:1 with students
  • Digital Platforms: Lexia, Achieve3000

WRITING

  • 3 Genres - narrative, persuasive, informational
  • Seminar: mini lesson focusing on writing strategies, key components of the genre, etc.
  • Workshop: independent writing, teachers confer 1:1 with students

GENIUS HOUR

  • STEAM and/or Passion Projects are worked on every Friday for 1 hour
  • Projects are meant to solve a problem, invent something, or improve something
  • Students research, create, and teach others about their learning

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES

  • Alternate units throughout the school year
  • Integrate reading and writing into instruction
  • Hands on experiences for students
  • Inquiry based

SCHEDULE EXTRAS

  • Recess 1 time per day
  • Gym 30 minutes 2 times per week
