PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
CELLS
BY ALLISON JORDAN
2.
CELL WALL
Support and protects the cell
Ridged outside layer of the cell
Made of a strong material called cellulose
Water and oxygen pass through easily
Animal cells have no cell wall
3.
CELL MEMBRANE
Second barrier of a plant cell first layer of an animal cell
Prevents harmful materials from entering the cell
It controls what enters and leaves the cell
Everything the cell needs goes through the cell membrane
All unneeded materials go out through the cell membrane
4.
NUCLEUS
A large oval shape structure
Directs all the cells activities
5.
NUCLEAR ENVELOPE
The outer protective shell of the nucleus
Protects the nucleus
The materials in/out of the nuclear envelope
6.
CHROMATIN
Thin strands that float near the nucleus
Contains genetic material
Give instructions to the nucleus on the cells function
7.
NUCLEOLUS
Small object that floats in the nucleus
Where ribosomes are produced
8.
CYTOPLASM
The region between the cell membrane and the nucleus
Filled which gel like fluid
The fluid is constantly moving
Many of the organelles are found here
9.
MITOCHONDRIA
Rod shaped structures
Converts energy the cell can used
This is also known as the "powerhouse" of the cell
10.
ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM
Passageways in the cytoplasm
The passageways carry strong materials from one part of the cell to the other
11.
RIBOSOMES
Grain like structure
Ribosome produce proteins
12.
GOLGI BODIES
Receive proteins, packages them, and distributes them to the other parts of the cell
Also release materials outside cell
Looks like flatten sacsandtubes
13.
CHLOROPLASTS
In the cytoplasm are large green structure
Only plant cell have chloroplast
Captures energy from sunlight and produces food for cells
Makes sleeves green
14.
VACUOLES
A large sac in the cytoplasm
Stores food,waste,and other strong materials
Some animals cell don't have a vacuole
15.
LYSOSOMES
Small round structures contains chemicals that break down certain materials in a cell
Thought of the clean up crew
