Product History:

In 1852, Francis Wolle made the first paper bag making machine. Its function was to hold customers purchases allowing customers to purchase and carry more products.

Product Creation:

Logs are used as a starting material, they are sent to dry in a mill for three or over years. After they are dried, they are exposed to chemicals, heat, and pressure to make oatmeal-like pulp.

Product Disposal:

Recycled paper is made directly into pulp. After the pulp is made, it is formed, cut, glued, packaged, and then sent to the receiver.

Product Use:

Paper bags can used to carry products, arts and crafts and cn used to make other recyclable products when recycled. The process making paper bags has some cons to it as well.

Pollutants Created:

Air pollution and usage of oil are pollutants created in the process of making paper bags.

Social Impact:

The Social Impact of paper bags is that most people love to reuse them.

Environmental Impact:

The Environmental impact of paper bags is that we are cutting down forests to make them so deforestation is a big problem and also air pollution is a big problems too.

Product History:

First man-made plastic was created by Alexander Parkes in 1862 in London.

Product Creation:

It was an organic material derived from cellulose that one heated could be molded and retain its shape when it was cold.

Product Disposal:

Recycled plastic bags are used in grocery stores daily. The majority of recycled bags are turned into composite lumber. The lumber made from this is used to build things like door frames, window frames, and outdoor decks.

Social Impact:

Supermarkets use it to carry groceries

Economic Impact:

The cost the same amount as paper bags do to make

Conclusion

Summary:

Overall paper bags are worse for the environment because they take a lot of chemicals to make and trees need to be cut down to make them.

Anything Surprising?

Plastic bags can be made into windows, door frames and outdoor decks.

Our group's recommendation is that people should use plastic bags because they are better than paper bags, making it that we do not need to cut down trees which clean the air and make oxygen for all of us.

If we were to keep exploring the subject...

...we would look into which can be made in bigger bulk and which are more useful to people.
