PRINCIPLE OF ISOSTASY
Isostasy says that a floating object displaces it's own weight in a liquid.
This applies to geography because plates float on the asthenosphere.
This states that mountains do not just stretch up but they also have roots that go down into the asthenosphere.
Examples of this is a ships hull reaching into the water.
