Idiom
An idiom is a noun. It is a part of speech expression from the usual meanings of its constituent elements. The word Idiom originally came from Latin and Greek.

Idiom Examples:

  • A piece of cake.
  • Be in hot water.
  • Cross your fingers.

Simile
A simile is a noun, it is also a part of speech, in which two unlike things are explicitly compared.

  • As clear as mud.
  • As big as an elephant.

Metaphor
A metaphor is a noun, it is also a part of speech in something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance.

Metaphor Examples:

  • My teacher is a dragon.
  • Time is money.
  • Life is a rollercoaster.
