THE CLAIM

  • Poachers are killing elephants in Africa for their ivory causing the elephant numbers to shrink.

THe numbers

  • In December 2013, there was a estimated number between 410,000 and 650,000 elephants left in the world.
  • An elephant is killed every 15 minutes for its ivory.
  • Elephants may be extinct within 12 years
