LIMERICKS

FUNNY AND WITTY POEM

LIMERICKS

  • made up of five lines
  • first, second, and fifth rhyme
  • third and fourth rhyme(forms couplet)
  • lines 1,2,5 have 7-10 syllables
  • lines 3&4 have 5-7 syllables

EXAMPLE

A flea and a fly in a flue
Were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the fly, "let us flee!"
"Let us fly!" said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

MY EXAMPLE:

There once was a guy named Ted
He was taking drivers Ed
He began freaking out
The teacher started to shout
Now there both in a hospital bed

HAIKU'S

ORIGIN- JAPAN; ABOUT NATURAL WORLD AND SEASONS

HAIKU'S

  • three lines
  • doesn't have to rhyme
  • lines 1&3 have five syllables
  • line 2 has seven syllables
  • must be about nature
