  • Artful, entertaining, full of rhythm, peaceful, and has stanzas.
  • It can be about also about anything.
  • It expresses ideas, emotions, in a creative way.

Rhyming couplets

Rhyming couplets are two lines of poetry that rhyme at the end. They may be single pairs or a whole poem may be made of them.

Free Verse
A snowy day is white
A snowy day is snowmen and snow angels
A snowy day is sledding
A snowy day is made of icy, fluffy joy. - anonymous

Free Verse is poetry that does not have a regular pattern of rhythm or rhyme.

Simile

It was as frigid as an iceberg in the house.
A simile is a type of figurative language that compares two unlike things using the words like or as.

More examples:

The sun was as bright as a thousand lights.

Metaphors
I am the moon in the trees
and the blind woman's teacup.
But don't worry, I'm not the bread and the knife.
You are still the bread and the knife.

A metaphor is a form of figurative language in which things are compared by stating one thing is another. Like and as are not used.

Metaphor examples:

My dog is pure happiness.

Personification

The brook sang merrily as it went on its way.
Personification is the giving of human qualities to an animal or an inanimate object.

Personification example:

My tree gives me very good advice.

Soccer
Messi and Ronaldo are the greats
It's really hard to hate
Practice a lot and make a shot
And you could be at the top
