MONSTER PETROCELLI

  • You are a monster You've been guilty from the start
  • I will tear you apart Your eyes are deep red inside a dragons head
  • The life you see is a movie But what I see is a killer
  • Your skin is like a dark horse Waiting to jump the gate
  • Well, I will prove you guilty You'll get a million years in prison.

MONSTER POEM PART 2

  • All of us may not be perfect Our founding fathers knew
  • But I never thought a murder spree like this would come true No matter how young you are.
  • If you do the crime You do the time Life is a gift given to all of us
  • But you so easily took a life away The money you took was someone's pay
  • I wish we weren't here today But people like you make life this way.

WHAT YOU REALLY ARE

  • You think you're the best You think you top the rest
  • But in reality, you're just like everyone else. All you do is try stand out from the crowd
  • But none can hear your sound For that, I will send you straight to the ground.
  • Your attitude is like an old man you keep kicking your feet in the sand. Until the crab pinches your hand.
  • My goals for you didn't go as planned

WHAT YOU REALLY ARE PART 2

  • Wow! You did something good However, you did that like every one should.
  • You were my friend Now I have lost you again.
  • Life to you is a straight away But that feeling will fade away
  • You are not here to stay You are gone from my life today.

THE LESSON OF THE FOOTBALL

  • 22 padded men on the field One guy is squatting down
  • Another man takes the snap The man receives the ball He runs right.
  • The player swifts through the team He ducks like a turtle The man crawls between the ref
  • He then floats in the air Gliding like a shifty bird He dunks the goal post His team won!
  • Woo! Goes the throw The teammates carry him off He's on top of the world!

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE EXAMPLES MONSTER POEM

  • Your eyes are deep red inside a dragons Inside a dragons head Metaphor compares red eyes and a dragons head
  • Your skin is like a dark horse waiting to jump the gate is a simile because it compares the horse and the jump ( referring to being released out of prison) and uses like as a comparison.
  • You'll get a million years in prison is a hyperbole because it is an extreme exaggeration and a lifetime is not a million years.

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE EXAMPLES WHAT YOU REALLY ARE

  • In the poem, a small group of words all end with the ay suffix. This is called assonance when ending sounds are the same or sound the same.
  • Many word repeat at the end of the poem like away, today and others. These words represent repetition because the words constantly rhyme.
  • Your attitude is like an old man kicking in the sand is a simile because it compares the man and his attitude.

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE EXAMPLES LESSON OF THE FOOTBALL

  • 22 padded men on the field is a synecdoche because it refers to the football players by saying padded men.
  • Woo! This phrase is an example of onomatopoeia. This loud shouting phrase represents a shift in tone in the story.
  • He's on top of the world! The quote shows an over exaggeration which concludes to be a hyperbole.
