First your teacher has to say that you are ready. For you to be ready your ankles must be strong enough for you to hold yourself up.
Then you have to be committed to doing it because it takes a lot of work and you are at high risk for injuries. You might have to take at least two classes a week for pointe and you may have to take more.
There are many different brands of pointe shoes. To find the perfect fit I recommend going to a store and trying on more than at least two to try and find the perfect fit.
Some of the well know brands are Bloch, Hanna, European Balance, and many more.
So, now you have gotten the shoes and You need to sew them.
What you need to do is to go to your teacher and ask them the way that they want the shoes sewn. Remember, you need to get your teacher to approve the shoes before you sew them because the company will not take them back if you have marked them up.
First, if you want to have a shank that is easy to dance on, you want to break them in. Some ways to do this is it slam them in a door, hit them on the floor, take out the inside shank, hit the box with a hammer, and I think you get the idea.
So, you are working on turns and you keep falling off your pointe. What do you do? You can take the fabric off the top, or were you go on pointe, to make better friction therefore you stay on your pointe.
Remember, your teacher must be okay with you doing this to your shoes.
