• Raise awareness of the declining bee population
• Teach you how pollination works
• Discuss the importance of bees
• Discuss what you can do in your own backyard to help pollinators

• Honey bees are native to Europe
• There are over 400 types of native bees in N.J.
• Native means naturally found

BEES ARE DECLINING BECAUSE OF

• Lack of homes and habitats
• Colony collapse disorder

POLLINATION

• To understand importance of bees,must understand pollination
• Pollination is the movement of pollen from the stamen to the stigma
• This causes fertilization and the production of seeds
• Bees pollinate flowers fruits and vegitables

• 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat are made possible by pollinators
• Bees are our number 1 pollinator
