  • Birth name: Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli
  • Birth date: 25 November 1881
  • Early life: he was born into a large religious family, he had a strong faith life
  • Religious order: Secular Franciscan Order
  • Military work: seargent medic, military chaplian, created home for students

PAPAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Awards: (1963) Presidential Medal of Freedom, Balzan Prize awarded for peace
  • He calls the Second Vatican Council which deals with reforms including the modern world
  • He was beatified as a saint

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

  • Pope John XXIII set an example for many Popes to follow on compassion, positivity, and faith
