PORT FAIRY FOLK FESTIVAL

Where are theses music festivals held?
Our festival is found in Port Ferry

When are they held?
This year it's held on March 11th to March 14th.
They will be celebrating their 40th anniversary this year

Why are they held at this time and How long does it go for?
The first, second and third festival was held in December, with the fourth in March. It's been held in March ever since, being on the labour day 3 day weekend.

Around 3000

What types of environments is popular for this festival?
Port Ferry Folk Festival is a town based festival. Some towns near are Rosebrook, Warmambool, & Portland. Usually it's located in old towns.

What are the requirements for a music festival, with the large numbers that attend?
Insurance(what kind of liabilities are involved?), ticketing(does the venue provide, or third-party?), security(contract local police or private?), local ordinance(permits, zoning etc.).
It would also require a large ground for the festival, toilets and rubbish bins

Who is involved with the music festival?
The bands/singers/buskers/artists in general, fans and festival goers, stallholders/food vendors, volunteers, security, the people running the festival, technicians/back stage crew, stylists(?)(for the bands)

What potential conflicts are there with the local people and festival goers? What are the good and bad aspects to a festival?
The festival can be loud, which could create conflicts and there will most likely be drunken people that leave the festival drunk and go into town or do something else stupid. There will also be lots of rubbish and/or litter.
A good aspect is the popularity, bringing tourists to the town means business for stores.
So basically, good is: income and tourism, and bad is: rubbish/mess, noise, drinking, fights

What are some problems/issues that might be created by music festivals?
Rubbish/Glass(Bottles, trash, etc.)/people not packing up their belongings, drugs/alcohol, thievery, lost people, bands might full out leave, riots and fights, people refusing to do something(break the law, not wanting to pay for something, using rude when asked not to, etc.)

What provisions should be made by organisers to help manage the environment?
Separate bins for recyclable trash and normal trash, trash collectors, signs that read/a rule to coming that say 'You must pick up your belongings/pack up your campsite', reusable/recyclable items sold/given. Basically make people aware of their rubbish and make sure they pack up after themselves.
