HOW THEY BECOME CHIPS

HARVESTING/PRODUCTION

  • In order to have a potato chip you need to have a potato. In order to grow a potato you need to live a reasonable climate.
  • This food likes to be in a climate of 50 degrees or higher.
  • This starch likes to grow in drained soil meaning dry.
  • They usually grow about for about 10 weeks .
  • Harvesting season is from April to August or late July.

PRODUCTION/PROCESSING

  • After the Potatoes are harvested they are sent to factories to be cut and processed.
  • They get washed then get sent into blades which slice them into specific cut. i.e ripple cut
  • After that since they are wet and cut they go through seasoning. i.e sour cream and onion
  • After getting their specific seasoning they are baked until crispy.
  • Then they go into their packaging to be distributed.
