ABSOLUTE & RELATIVE POVERTY

  • Absolute poverty it's the lack of one or more basic needs over a period long enough that it endangers your life; while relative covers vital and biological needs to maintain the average standard of living on a society.
  • Examples: A=lack of nutrition
  • R=driving a used car when your neighbor just bought a new one.

WORLD BANK

  • Poverty; "Defined as whether households or individuals have enough resources or abilities today to meet their needs" (World Bank, 2011)

EXTREME POVERTY

  • 18.8 million people have not the chance to obtain basic needs like food; 25% of Mexican communities are in poverty and 52 million people are currently living under the healthy line.

UNEMPLOYMENT

  • Situation where someone of working age is not able to get a job but would like to be in full time employment.
  • Variables:
  • Demand, labour fource and claimant count.

  • Unemployed is divided by labor force times 100 to get a percentage.
