“Dragon”
The main dragon of the book is the shroud. I think that he was so important in the story because he was the main antagonist.

Conflict
(Person vs person)
The conflict that I chose was when Daniel and Simon were fighting. Daniel had to see what happens when you turn 13 but Simon was being super grumpy. This scene is important because it’s when you first see the shroud. Finally, the conflict resolved with Daniel realizeing that Simon was actually a nice guy.

POWER
In the beginning of the story the supers had the power. In the middle the shroud had the power. Finally, at the very end the supers had it again.
In the beginning the supers didn’t know about the shroud and had the power. In the middle the supers became aware of the shroud and the shroud gained power. Lasty, in the final scene the kids got the power again.

Dynamic characters
One of the dynamic characters in Powerless is Simon. Simon started to become mean and grumpy when he started to turn about the age of 13. Daniel was in his house on his 13th birthday when he found out that Simon was just afraid of turning 13 and losing his powers.

Theme statement
The theme statement of Powerless is if you do good things good things will happen to you. Beginning quote “ Daniel Heard a loud popping sound as the car came around the corner. “Georgie!” “BALL!” Shouted George’s voice behind him. Daniel turned to see the girls standing there, holding his little brother in her arms.“ Middle quote “Then he was no longer falling. Somebody had a hold of him, and that someone was floating in mid air. He turned his head and saw Eric smiling back at him.” Ending quote “It’s down there to, Molly answered. After you tore it off Plunketts neck, his powers disappeared. His shroud-all that shadowy stuff-just faded and all that was left was this little old man. When the place started to fall apart, Plunkett ran for his cave. I don’t think he made it.
