  • Powhatan live in yehkins which were randomly scattered
  • among shade trees and fields.some yehkins were round or oblong.

Living Arrangements

  • They built semi-permanent towns as the English called them.
  • Powhatan settlements were small fewer than a hundred people.
  • They only had ten to twenty houses.

Food/Hunting

  • Men fished and hunted for beer,beaver and deer.
  • They cleared the land by cutting down trees so women
  • Could plant corn,beans and tabacoo.
