PRADER-WILLI SYNDROME

SYMPTOMS/SIGNS

• Suffer from behavioral problems such as temper tantrums, stubbornness,
• And impulsive behavior. Many also have sleep abnormalities. Short
• Stature and small hands and feet are also signs of Prader-Willi syndrome
• Some have unusually light colored hair, skin, and eyes as well as
• Underdeveloped genitals; infertile.

CAUSES

• Know causes: caused by the loss of genes in specific region of
• The 15th chromosome. This deletion of the OCA2 usually
• Comes from the paternal chromosome (70% of the time)
• And 25% of the time it will come from the deletion of the
• Mother's 15th chromosome.

TREATMENT

• Typically will be treated for their symptoms but their is no cure.
• Therapy for behavioral problems.
• Monitoring for scoliosis
• Management of obesity
• Monitoring of growth
