WHY SHOULD YOU PRAY

  • Praying is like a conversation with God.
  • It involves a two way conversation with God and yourself.
  • Praying also is listening intently to God.
  • When you pray, you form a bond with God.

PRAYER TYPES & FORMS

  • Praise: Adoration and Blessing to God
  • Thanksgiving: Offered to God...thanks to God.
  • Intercession: Prayer offered to God on behalf of others.

Praise: Hallelujah, Our Father, and Hail Mary
Thanksgiving: Grace before and After Meals.
Intercession: Prayer for the Faithful Departed.

PRAYER EXPRESSIONS

  • Mental: inside your head, "tuning in with God."
  • Vocal: prayer aloud.
  • Contemplation: prayer that forms a bond with Jesus and God.

PRAYER ATTRIBUTES

  • Simplicity: do not pray with fancy words, make it short and simple.
  • Faith: pray with perseverance.
  • Others: pray with a group.

  • Prayer that is simple is prayer that isn't pompous and waiting to be praised by others.
  • Keep it simple with God when you pray too.
