PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SOURCES PRESENTATION

PRIMARY SOURCES

• A primary source is a document or an object written or created during the time under study.
• These sources were present during an experience and offer an inside view. Examples:
• RELICS OR ARTIFACTS like pottery and buildings
• ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS like diaries, letters
• CREATIVE WORKS like drama and music

SECONDARY SOURCES

• A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources.
• They may have pictures, quotes or graphics of primary sources. Examples:
• PUBLICATIONS like text books, encyclopedias, journal articles.
