Technology is a vital part of our daily lives, but people are beginning to opt for more online privacy

Technology growing with us as a society, with children learning to use tablets before they can tie their shoes (1)

71% of millennials go online

- People over 18 go online for at least an hour a day, and on apps for another hour

With so many devices online,
people need to assess other's personalities through their social media posts (3)

Dating apps are becoming more popular, with 50 million active users on tinder, using it for an average of 90 minutes a day (4)

People are learning that posting can have consequences, therefore they are becoming more private online , for social or employment reasons (5)

Humans rely on other people's perceptions to give a sense of value, which is called the looking glass self. Selfies are how we can maintain our created online reputation (6)

Social media sites such as Facebook can cause relationship issues due to envy from comparing ourselves to others and over sharing (7)

Kids want privacy online, meaning they often do not want their parents posting information about them on social media (9)

People are wanting to stay more anonymous on social media in order to keep up a reputation and stop identity thieves (10)

With children using technology more often, it is important to keep them safe while they're online

Phone apps can track where you have been within 50 metres of the actual location (11)

Apps can collect email addresses and search history, which can leave kids susceptible to advertising, which can shape their online experience (12)

A child's online identity can be impacted by what they post, and eventually, in a worst case scenario, fraud can be committed against them (12)

Technology can have its downfalls if used incorrectly, but by safely using it, at the end of the day, technology can benefit society.
