  • The prohibition was a constitutional ban on the sale and production of alcoholic beverages

KEY PEOPLE

  • Al Capone- A well known gangster. He used violence and crime to move and distribute alcohol to the people.

  • Roy Olmstead- His nickname was "King of the puget-sound bootleggers" He was a police lieutenant on the Seattle police force who distributed large amounts of alcohol, but Roy Olmstead's case in the Supreme Court was lost.

DATES

  • The prohibition took place from 1920 and lasted until 1933

  • During the prohibition there were "speak-easies" which were secret bars for people to drink at.
  • Because of prohibition,crime ran rampant, and corruption was skyrocketing.
