PROPHET'S PROJECT

EARLY LIFE

• Amos was from the south of Kingdom of Judah.
• Before Amos became a prophet, he was a sheep herder.
• At first he wasn't suppose to be a prophet.
• He said, "I am not a prophet nor a son of a prophet"

BEGINNING OF A PROPHET

• He started his prophetic carrer in 750 BCE in Jerusalem.
• Amos' prophetic message was aimed at the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
• Really the cities of Samaria and Bethel.

FEAST DAY

• Amos has a feast day that is celebrated on June 15.
• He was with the other minor prophets in the Calendar of Saints.
• Of the Armenian Apostolic Church on July 31.

PROPHETIC CARRER

• Amos was a southern farmer
• who chose to deliver his prophetic message in the North.
• Amos is the first prophet to use the term "the Day of the Lord".
• Amos and other prophets include Israel as an enemy of God.

BOOK OF AMOS

• God puts his people on the same level as the surrounding nations
• contains several different key activities and genres which are used to expound upon its themes.
• The examples of the Book of Amos are Locusts, Fire, a basket of fruit, and etc.
