• Homer Hickam was an antagonist in the beginning of the book.
• He always despised the boys making rockets.
• He was negative about Sonny's choices

• It's depths can cause trouble for the crew
• The creatures in the sea harm the crew
• It can become ice. The ice caused the crew to get stuck .
