Circadian Rythm

  • A daily rhythmic activity cycle, based on 24-hour intervals, that is exhibited by many organisms.
  • The rhythms are entrainable.
  • The rhythms exhibit temperature compensation.
  • Shift work, pregnancy, time zone change, etc.. causes Circadian disorder

Sleep Stages

What is Rem Sleep?

  • one of the five stages of sleep that most people experience nightly.
  •  a stage of sleep characterized by the rapid and random movement of the eyes
  • The relative amount of REM sleep varies considerably with age
  • Babies can spend up to 50% of their sleep in the REM stage, compared to only about 20% for adults.
  •  REM sleep happens 90 minutes after you fall asleeplist item here

What is Insomnia

  • Insomnia is trouble falling asleep or staying asleep through the night. 
  • nsomnia can be acute (short-term) or chronic (ongoing).
  • Insomnia can cause daytime sleepiness and a lack of energy.
  • These problems can prevent you from doing your best at work or school.

What is narcolepsy?

  • Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes excessive sleepiness and frequent daytime sleep attacks.

What is sleep apnea?

  • can make you wake up in the morning feeling tired or unrefreshed even though you have had a full night of sleep.
  • Obstructive sleep apnea is a common and serious sleep disorder that causes you to stop breathing during sleep.
  • he lack of oxygen your body receives can have negative long-term consequences for your health.
