Puritan Society

  • Women's Roles: Farm Hands, Responsible for all maternal duties, sometimes responsible for finances.
  • Men's Roles: Raised crops and livestock, everything for the betterment of the colony, responsible for spiritual well-being of the family.
  • Children's Roles: Basically Slaves, did what they were told to do, bible.

Puritan Culture

  • Lived in Massachusetts Bay, Came from N. Ireland, Some settled in NY, NJ, PA.
  • Activities: Hunting and fishing but were very quick to condemn games requiring various types of balls.
  • Believed that the civil government should strictly enforce public morality.
  • Enjoyed 9-Pin bowling.
  • Sang songs and drank wine and beer.
  • Celebrated with festivals.
