PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRATION

( PWA) WAS ESTABLISHED ON JUNE 16, 1933

(PWA) PURPOSE

• (Pwa) was created to spend "big bucks on big projects."
• More than any other New Deal program, the PWA epitomized the Rooseveltian notion of "priming the pump" to encourage economic growth.

WHO DID THE (PWA) AFFECT/BENEFIT?

• The (PWA) affected nearly every United States county and inedibly altered North Carolina.
• Roosevelt predicted that PWA projects would benefit industries directly involved with PWA projects (such as the construction industry).

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE (PWA)?

• At first the (PWA) was successful.
• Then, the (PWA) spent over six million dollars but did not succeed in returning the level of industrial activity to pre-depression levels.

WHY ISNT THE (PWA) AROUND TODAY?

• The (PWA) spent way to much and it was not enough for the pre-depressing levels.
• The (PWA) was abolished in June 1941.
