PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE PYRAMIDS OF GIZA

One of the Seven Wonders of the World

WHY WERE THEY BUILT?

  • The pyramids were made to protect the pharaoh after he deceased. They were perfect for holding items that would help the pharaoh in his afterlife, including his body. Though the pyramids had been looted and cleaned before Egyptologists could examine them, there is significant evidence that they held boats, wooden statues, stone carvings, clothing, food, and luxury items that the pharaoh would have needed. These items were most likely the pharaoh’s valued possessions and were regarded as royal.

Erosion has worn away parts of the Pyramids.

It is incredibly hard to believe that Egyptians built the pyramids in the era they did, with no technology to help them out.

Some of the blocks they used were up to 90 tons, and they lifted them using only rope and wood. Approximately 2.3 million blocks of stone were cut, transported, and assembled to create the 5.75-million-ton structure,
