  • All these were served in clay bowls and eaten with buffalo horn spoons

  • Deerskin dresses
  • Breechcloths
  • Leather leggings
  • Moccasins
  • Buffalo hide robes
  • Head dresses
  • Beadwork etc.

ROLES

  • Woman : farmed, built houses, cooked, made pottery and other crafts
  • Men: hunted (food providers) war fighters
  • Both genders took place in story telling

CEREMONIES

  • Sun dances
  • Sweat lodges
  • & religious ceremonies which lasted up to two days

EXTRA

  • Quapaw means "Downstream People"
  • They used to be part of a larger group many years ago
  • Very good at making canoes out of trees
  • Very well known for their pottery making skills
  • Believed they proved bravery by overcoming their pain
  • They took steam baths as as means of purification
