  • 94% of the population can speak french in some form
  • Over six million people report french as their native language
  • Only 50% Can speak English
  • They have the highest rate of bilinguals in Canda

MUSIC AND DANCING

  • Popular instruments their include the harmonica, fiddle , spoons,
  • and the jaw harp.
  • Music has always played an important part in their culture
  • They have all types of music now from hip hop to folk music
  • One well know musician from quebec is Celine Dion who sang "My Heart Will Go On"

  • They have many museums such as the Quebec National Museum Of Fine Arts
  • They were first influenced by Catholicism in the time of New France
  • Many works are displayed in public areas for all to see
  • Others are displayed in foreign countries
  • One example is Québec Libre! in San Francisco

  • Much of their food has a high fat content
  • The most famous foods from quebec include:
  • Poutine, Pate Chinois, and Tourtiere
  • They also established the first cheese making school in North America
  • They also have produced beer since the beginning of their colonization

SPORTS

  • The national sport is ice hockey
  • They hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics
  • They also play Canadian football and soccer
  • And The Grand Prix du Canada
