CHILDHOOD
Ralph Waldo Emerson was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
His father was William Emerson and his mother was Ruth Haskins.
3 of his sibling died early in there childhood, only 4 of his brother made it to adult hood.
When Emerson was only eight years old, his father died due to stomach cancer.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
He led the movement in Transcendentalist in the mid-19th century
Director of an all girl school
Emerson wrote "Nature" which encouraged other American authors to create their own style
Instead of imitating other famous authors

CONNECTION WITH LITERATURE
Emerson's first collection of essays was called "Nature".
"Nature" included Emerson's search of what he desired.
It also included his studies in philosophy and religion.
Emerson's first publication was
"Thoughts on the Religion of the Middle Ages" in 1822

He was an American lecturer, essayist, and poet.
He led the Transcendentalist movement in the mid-19th century.
