  • It's celebrated around the world by people of the Islam religion.

  • Ramadan is celebrated on the ninth day of the Islamic year.
  • Ninth of July

WHY IS RAMADAN CELEBRATED

  • This was when Muhammad traveled through the desert near Mecca.
  • It is a time for inner reflection, devotion to God, and self-control

WHAT ARE THE THINGS PEOPLE TYPICALLY DO FOR THIS CELEBRATION?

  • Ramadan is when people in Islam don't eat morning to dawn,and people have no violence that day
  • Every day in Ramadan they come together to eat a meal called Iftar.

  • Ramadan is celebrated for 26-27 days
  • Each night they read a part of the Quran
  • Children perform plays
  • Children say special poems too
  • Special food is made during Ramadan
