What Did I Learn?

  • Coal, iron, and cotton were major materials
  • Britian's colonies included India, parts of Africa, Australia, Untied Kingdom, Canada and British New Guinea
  • Steam engines and smelting largely contributed to the use of coal and iron
  • Cotton was gathered from the Southren Untied States
  • Coal and iron were gathered mostly from within Britian
  • Until the 19th century water wheels were used, steam engines replaced them because of high demand
  • In the early 1800's Robert Fulton built the first commercial steamboat
