• An act to help the freed slaves after the war.
• The freedmen's bureau helped the slaves.

14TH AMENDMENT

• Citizenship to former slaves.
• The 14th amendment gave slaves citizenship.

15TH AMENDMENT

• African men got the right to vote.
• The 15th amendment gave the African men the right to vote.

KU KLUX KLAN

• White men part of the democrats who targeted
• African Americans and people part of the republicans.
• The Ku Klux Klan was very bad and violent.

MARCH 8 ,1870

• Texas is readmitted into the Union.
• On this date Texas rejoined the Union.

GOVERNOR EDMUND DAVIS

• He did not like the idea of Texas seceding from the U.S so
• he left Texas and joined the Union.
• Governor Edmund Davis joined the Union.
