BILL PICKETT

  • He was born December 5, 1870,in Travis County, Texas.
  • He was the thirteenth child for Thomas Jefferson Pickett.
  • Bill Pickett invented steer wrestling.
  • He learned to bulldog by twisting the steer's neck, biting it's upper lip,and making it fall on it's side
  • The rodeo advertised catching and taming wild cattle.

TONKAWA TRIBE

  • They were the most warlike tribes for centuries.
  • They had a language just for their tribe.
  • They fought in the Civil War.
  • Their name means they all stay together.
  • There are 476 Tonkawas in Oklahoma.

DUST BOWL

  • The Dust Bowl was caused by lack of rain and high winds.
  • Wind blew grass away in dust storms called Black Blizzards.
  • The drought happened during The Great Depression.
  • The worst drought in U.S. History.
  • It went through southeastern Colorado,Western Kansas,Panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma,Northeastern New Mexico.
