FUNCTIONAL REGIONS

  • Is an area connected by the way people use it
  • An example would be the corn belt

FORMAL REGION

  • Part of the world that shares a human or physical charactersistic
  • There are three types of formal regions
  • Physical for example the mountains surrounding Switzerland
  • Formal like countries
  • Culture such as south America

PERCEPTIONAL REGION

  • A perceptional region is a region that changes with the person
  • For example if I think that the midwest has thirteen states
  • But a totally different person thinks there is 9 and a half states
