The Percent of Followers

Most Religions posses a religious text, or a holy book that somewhat explains the ways to live toward a better life.

Christianity

  • The book for this domain of faith is the bible.
  • This religion is monotheistic, meaning that they believe in that there is only one true supreme god.
  • However, although they are monotheistic, Christians believe in the holy trinity. (carm.org)

Islam

  • This religion's main text is the Qur'an.
  • Islamic religion is also monotheistic, but they do not believe in the trinity.
  • Many similarities can be found between the bible and the qur'an; including stories and priciples.

The BIBLE is viewed as a letter left to followers by their one and only God. The ways and words of the bible are to be followed, and there for guidance. The bible has many parts within parts, and each verse is written in a way that each individual reader can come away with a different interpretation.

The Qur'an's objective is to inform people about the creation process. In this book there are sections that each have and objective. (lifepositive.com) The Qur'an was written to be read aloud and therefore has a very melodious flow about the way it is written. (islamreligion.com)

The BIBLE

  • Often the bible can seem very difficult to comprehend with multiple different interpretations.
  • A reason for this could be because it is written using riddles, similes, and many metaphors. Thus, the way one individual interprets it may differ from the next.
  • This book is essentially separated into tho big sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. Then within each testament there are multiple books, and in each book are chapters. Lastly, in the chapters there are verses.

The QUR'AN

  • The Qur'an has revelations that are consisted of verses, which are then combined into 114 chapters or suras.
  • Organization of the suras is very systematic in a way that is ordered by length. However, before the rest of the suras, is "the Opening" which is a short prayer that has become and essential prayer. (infoplease.com/quran.)
  • Most excerpts in the Qur'an are written with a rhyme scheme or pattern, since it was meant to be recited. It is written with a catchy feel because the passages are often chanted out loud.
