WHAT IS CULTURE

  • Culture is a certain behavior, pattern or way of life in a certain ethnic group
  • Examples of culture could be the moon festival for the Chinese or Columbus Day for Americans.
  • It can be a behavior such as in America, it is polite to look people directly in eye.
  • But in Latin America, it is very impolite to look other directly in the eye.
  • The idea of culture is a very complex way of life that is unique for each ethnic group.

CULTURE

  • As the population increases, many cultures begin to diffuse across the world.
  • This creates a multicultural society, with multiple cultures in a society.
  • Some cultures have bigger gender roles, to express the attitude that is given and expected from each gender
  • All cultures have some sort if social class, to show some sort of status in the culture like a high social status.
  • Social mobility is the ability to move up your social class through status or income, usually on individuals or families.

CULTURE

  • Urban is usually an area that's a town or a city
  • Rural is usually an area on the countryside outside or towns.
  • Animism is the belief that natural objects, natural phenomena, and the universe itself possess souls.

RELIGION: CHRISTIANITY

  • Believes that the world is sinful
  • Believes that Jesus Christ is something like the son ofGod
  • Believes in the afterlife
  • Uses the bible as a reference.

RELIGION:JUDAISM

  • Believes in One God
  • Believes in the coming messiah
  • Follows many laws
  • Uses the Torah as reference

  • Believes in One God
  • Follows the teachings of Mohammad
  • Follows a strict set of laws called the sharia
  • Uses the Koran as reference

RELIGION: BUDDHISM

  • Some believe that Buddha is a god, some don't.
  • Believes in karma
  • Believes in meditation to achieve enlightenment
  • Believes in reincarnation

  • Many forms of Hinduism
  • Believes in reincarnation
  • Have 320 million "gods"

RELIGION: SIKHISM

  • Believes in one god
  • Founded by Guru Nanak
  • Believes in the trap of maya
  • Uses the teaching theory of śábda
