JUDAISM

History Of Judaism

Judaism's place of origin is Israel. The founder of Judaism was the Hebrew leader Abraham. Judaism was founded by him in Israel around 2000 BC.

Important Documents / Writings/ Books

The most holy Jewish book is the Torah, the first five books of the Hebrew Bible.
The Torah contains the five books revealed to Moses by God on Mount Sinai. No one is allowed to touch the Torah, so a pointer called a yad is used to follow words when reading it.

Basic Religious Beliefs

Some things that Jews believe are believe in only one God and only one God, do not make images to worship, and do not murder.

Religious Customs/Culture

There are three different types of Jews Orthodox, Reform, and Liberal. One thing that Jews eat is kosher food and this is part of there culture. Another thing that is in their culture is bar mitzvah and a bat mitzvah.

Worship Center/Sacred Building

The building where Jews worship God is called a Synagogue. Men and women usually sit separately in the Synagogues. Men are required to cover their heads. Everyone's spiritual leader is called a rabbi.


Symbols That Represent The Religion

There are a lot of different symbols that represent the Judaism culture. Here are some Star of David, chai, menorah, and mezuzah.

Life After Death

The rabbis teach that the soul leaves the body while a person is asleep and visits heaven. Judaism teaches that God breathed the soul into Adams body and he blew his nostrils the soul of life.

CHRISTIANITY

History Of Christianity

Christianity's place of origin is Israel. The founder of Christianity was Jesus of Nazareth.

Important Documents / Writings/ Books

The most holy book that Christians follow is called The Bible. The Bible is separated in two parts the Old Testament and the New Testament.


Basic Religious Beliefs

Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God. God sent his Son to earth to save humanity from the consequences of its sins. Jesus was tortured and gave his life on the Cross.


Religious Customs/Culture

Some things that a lot of Christians do is celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus. Another important thing that Christians celebrate is Christmas, the birth of Jesus.

Worship Center/Sacred Building

A Christians worship center is called a Church. Here they worship Jesus Christ. The spiritual leader is called a priest or minister.

Symbols That Represent The Religion

There are three symbols that represent Christianity. A cross, dove and fish.

Life After Death

For Christians life after death can either be good or bad. If it is good you go to heaven if it isn't you go to hell.

ISLAM

History of Islam

Islam's place of origin is Saudi Arabia. The founder of Islam is Muhammad but some Muslims believe that there was a chain of prophets starting with Adam.

Important Documents / Writings/ Books

An important book that Muslims believe in is called a Qur'an most of the time it is placed on a special wooden stand so you can read it.

Basic Religious Beliefs

Muslims believe in Allah, angels, holy books, prophets day of judgement, and predestination.

Religious Customs/Culture

There are two different kinds of Muslims they are called Sunnis and Shiites. One thing in the Islamic culture is that all Muslims should try to make the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their life.

Worship Center/Sacred Building

A Muslims worship center is called a Mosque they bring rugs there to pray. Before they go in the Mosque they have to clean themselves.

Symbols That Represent The Religion

There are two symbols that represent this religion one is called the crescent moon and star. The other one is called Allah.

Life After Death

When a Muslim dies they are cleaned and wrapped in a clean white cloth and buried after a special prayer.
They believe that humans will be resurrected and Allah will come for the Day of Judgment.
