VIEW ON WOMEN

  • The women in Rastafari are normally referred to as Queens. Many of the Rastafarian marriages are informal (common law). Even though things are changing, originally a woman’s role in the Rastafarian sect is basically regulated to housekeeping, childrearing and to pleasing her King. A Rastafarian woman is a Queen and must keep different standards than the women in “Babylonial” society or Western culture. Some of the standards include, no make up, no dressing in short skirts and they cannot use chemicals in their hair.

IMPACT ON WORLD HISTORY

  • the Rastafari Movement in Jamaica was brought to the attention of a larger part of the still-hostile Jamaican and world community – a citizenry which had developed a fearful attitude largely based on ignorance about the phenomenon and its adherents – by the publication of a report on the movement by three professors from the University of the West Indies.

ISLAM VS. RASTAFARIANISM

  • Rastafarians do not utter the Shahada or ‘testament’ to Mohammed being the Prophet of Allah. We do not bow to Allah. We bow to the King of kings and serve Jah Rastafari, YHWH Elohiym, the one Moses was told is named ‘I AM THAT I AM’. Our Testaments are the Old and New of the Torah, the writings of the prophets and the wengel or Gospel. We emphasize that Haile Selassie is the Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah mentioned in Revelation 5:5.
